I have written a hymn for the Stockton Methodist Eisteddfod every year for the past 20 years, with differing degrees of success. This one, written in 1997, is one of my favourites. The adjucitor liked it too - he gave it 100%. It is always a case of writing a hymn to fit a given theme. This one was The Fellowship of The Spirit. I always choose a tune first to fit the mood of the topic, then write the words to fit the tune. I don't think I could do it the other way round. The choir has sung this particular hymn at concerts on a few occasions. Les Lodge used to sing the middle verse as a solo.
