Rehearsals
The choir rehearses at Grays Road Institute in Stockton on most Monday evenings from 7.30 pm until 9.15 pm.
Rehearsal are lively and lighthearted, although the choir does have to work hard to ensure everything is ready for each concert and that all pieces are thoroughly rehearsed. Our repertoire is drawn from all areas of music: Classical choruses from opera to “Songs from the Shows”, songs from films such as Les Miserables and Shrek, to religious and spiritual pieces as well as the occasional humorous song!
We also include, as you might expect, many traditional male voice choir pieces and we often perform other pieces that have been specially arranged by current and past members of the choir.
We use sheet music for the majority of our programme but only for rehearsal. We now perform without music having to memorise much of it. We do not hold any auditions for new members but will fit you into the section we believe you are best suited to as quickly and smoothly as possible. Each section has members who will welcome you and guide you through the pieces providing you as much assistance as you feel you need. They will help you learn to read music if you wish and also provide advice with helping to improve singing techniques.
The choir has its own uniform of maroon blazer and grey trousers and it is this uniform in which the majority of our concerts are now performed. However, we do occasionally perform in dinner suits as the occasion demands.
If you would like to join us please contact us or just turn up at any of our rehearsals.
You are also very welcome to come to any of our public concerts (see concerts marked with an * on the Programme Page. An admission charge may be applicable by the organising body.
