Photograph taken by Presence Photography The Stockton Male Voice Choir can provide the perfect finishing touch to your wedding plans, whether religious or civil, traditional or modern, for an affordable price. I don’t know about your dream wedding, but in mine I want it to be better than most of those I have been to recently. I want the hymns to be bright, bold and enjoyable, not quiet, clumsy and mumbled, I want people to enjoy singing, not feel embarrassed that they might be heard above all the others. Unfortunately the reality is that the British are notoriously bad congregational singers and church choirs are getting smaller and smaller. You can of course hire a professional choir who cater for celebrity weddings at celebrity prices, who won’t let you use the church organist as you have to fork out for their professional organist to fit in with the package. Or you can spend that extra money on your dream dress and hire a local choir, who have performed at several weddings, and will be performing at my wedding in February. The Stockton Male Voice Choir will perform as a church choir for your wedding, ensuring that all your hymns are bright, bold and enjoyable. They can provide their own organist at no extra charge or work with the church organist at your venue. The choir contains several active church organists along with their own resident preacher(!) and most of the choir members have sung at more weddings than they would wish to admit to. However the choir’s service does not stop there, they will happily sing pieces of your choice for the processional and recessional (You don’t have to have “Here comes the bride” (Bridal March) and the “nah nah na na na na na” (Wedding March) one that you always hear on TV). At our wedding, the choir’s organist, Peter Walker, will be playing Katie Melua’s Call Off The Search as the processional and Tchaikovsky’s Russian Dance for the recessional. Also they will sing during the signing of the register to entertain those in the church who aren’t climbing over each other to take photographs of you; for our wedding the choir will be singing John Rutter’s For The Beauty of The Earth and Rachel Wyllie will be singing Call Off The Search. Which leads of to my next bit….. The choir have contacts with other local musicians and singers, amateur, semi-professional & professional, and can therefore provide you with a full musical package for the day if that is what you would like. Whether you would like fanfare trumpets, brass, wind or string ensembles, drummers or soloists, we can recommend suitably talented people or arrange everything for you. After the ceremony, whether in church or at a civil venue, the choir can be waiting for you and your guests to arrive at the reception venue, performing a selection of light hearted, romantic or humorous pieces to suit your tastes. The choir will perform until dinner is announced and the friendly banter will provide amusing live entertainment in between the musical numbers. Why am I so happy to recommend The Stockton Male Voice Choir to perform at the most important day of your life? Because I have heard them perform at concerts and weddings before, and I trust them to bring life and entertainment to our wedding day and make it the most perfect day imaginable without charging us a fortune. The choir, as with most people who are involved in weddings, charge off-peak rates for Monday to Friday, and peak rates for Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. For this price you will get a free organist (if required), a choir and a conductor to perform for you and your guests. They can even provide hymn sheets if required. Members of the committee will be available to attend your wedding rehearsal and will liaise with the venues. For more information please contact them via their
contacts page. The gentlemen of the choir will be more than happy to
guide you through musical suggestions for all elements of your wedding
day. Written by Victoria Firth | |||||||||||||||||||||||
